(Sharecast News) - Tuesday is set to be a relatively quiet day for economic announcements, but a host of AGMs and corporate earnings will likely keep investors busy.
With first-quarter earnings season coming to an end, the calendar for annual general meetings picks up, with heavyweights Fresnillo, Prudential and Metro Bank among the blue chips holding shareholder events.
Meanwhile, trading updates from Greggs and Smiths Group, and full-year numbers from Cranswick and Vodafone will also garner the market's attention.
Greggs will update the market on its first quarter, with investors keen know the impact that January's challenging weather had on the on-to-go bakery chain's sales. The company said in March that LFL sales were up just 1.7% in the first nine weeks of the year after having grown 5.5% over 2024.
Smiths Group, which has raised guidance twice already this financial year, will deliver its third-quarter update, following a 9.1% increase in organic revenues in the first half. Shareholders will also be looking for any updates on the planned separation processes for its Smiths Interconnect and Smiths Detection divisions announced in January.
For Cranswick, the focus of its full-year results will likely be on the meat producer's decision last week to temporarily shut its Lincolnshire farm following animal rights abuse claims. Shares in Cranswick tanked as Britain's Big Four supermarkets all suspended supplies from the farm after staff were secretly recorded engaging in inhumane practices that put pigs under distress and considerable pain.
As for Vodafone, UBS has listed three areas of focus for shareholders as it releases its annual report: whether German service revenue declines reached a trough in the fourth quarter; if consensus forecasts for adjusted free cash flow (at €2.6bn) are too high given the investment to turn around the German business and FX headwinds; and any guidance on how much the merger with Three UK will add to adjusted EBIDA (UBS estimates more than £470m).
