(Sharecast News) - EasyJet is set to restart its long-running feud with arch-rival Ryanair with the substitution of 80 of its smallest jets, A319s, for larger and more efficient models. Ryanair is also renewing its fleet, but the move is being hampered by a production crisis at Boeing, among other considerations. According to EasyJet chief executive officer Kenton Jarvis the upgrade of its fleet as a key driver of its bid to raise its annual pre-tax profits to more than £1bn. - The Sunday Telegraph
KKR, the US private equity giant, is plotting taking control of troubled utility group Thames Water in a bid to revive the water company's fortunes. In parallel, Thames Water chairman, Adrian Montague, is said to be putting the finishing touches on a £4bn injection into the business made up of equity and loans. - The Financial Mail on Sunday

The finance minister of Germany added his voice to those of other European politicians calling for talks with Washington. That followed threats from the US president at the end of the previous week to impose a 50% tariff on European imports starting from the following week. - Guardian

Eleanor Bucks has become the second senior executive to leave Lloyds of London in two weeks. The chief investment officer left her post at the insurance market only adays after it was reported that Rebekah Clement, the corporate affairs chief, was also leaving.
