Week ahead: US non-farm payrolls, ECB in the spotlight

(Sharecast News) - The market spotlight over the coming week will be on the US non-farm payrolls report again, this time for the month of May.
Investors are keen to see whether the US jobs market has finally shifted down a gear in response to the uncertainty around international trade.
Consensus is for a 130,000 person increase in payrolls after a gain of 177,000 in April.
Geopolitics however will not be far from investors' minds, as Russian and Ukrainian delegations meet in Istanbul, on Monday.
Against that backdrop, come Thursday the European Central Bank will announce its latest monetary policy decision.
Another 25 basis point reduction on the deposit facility is widely anticipated, taking it to 2.0%.
Monday will bring with it survey results for factory sector conditions in the euro area, UK, and US.
A rival reading for Chinese manufacturing is due out on Tuesday.
Service sector activity surveys will be released on Wednesday, save in China where they will be published on Thursday.
On 31 May, a group of OPEC+ countries will meet to decide on output policy with consensus being that they will opt for another hike in their combined output.
