Week ahead: Geopolitics, US Federal Reserve in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investor focus over the coming week will invariably be on the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, given the potential for the Iran-Israel conflict to worsen.
In a similar vein, the NATO Heads of State summit scheduled for Tuesday, in the Hague, will also be closely monitored for details regarding the Alliance's new investment and spending plans.
Central banks will be in the spotlight on the economic side of things.
Multiple top Fed officials are scheduled to deliver remarks over the course of the week, including Jerome Powell's semi-annual testimony before Congress, also on Tuesday.
The above aside, Monday will bring with it the release of a barrage of purchasing managers' surveys for manufacturing and services sector activity in the UK, euro area and US during the month of June.
Personal income and spending figures for the US in May are also due out, on Friday, including a look at the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, the core PCE price deflator.
A reading on first quarter UK GDP growth will also be published at the end of the week.
