Thor Explorations announces series of high-grade gold intercepts

(Sharecast News) - Thor Explorations announced a series of high-grade gold intercepts from its maiden drilling programme at the Guitry Project in Côte d'Ivoire on Tuesday, confirming a new interpretation of the mineralised system and supporting plans to advance towards a maiden resource later this year.
The AIM-traded company completed 3,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling in May and June, targeting the Krakouadiokro prospect based on a revised geological model.

Results included 10 metres at 10.36 grams of gold per tonne from 57 metres in hole GURC25-214, five metres at 12.65 grams per tonne from 69 metres in GURC25-228, and three metres at 14.50 grams per tonne from 82 metres in GURC25-219.

Other notable hits included 17 metres at 2.16 grams per tonne from surface in GURC25-229 and 13 metres at 3.46 grams per tonne from 114 metres in GURC25-227.

"We are extremely pleased to report our first drilling results from Côte d'Ivoire," said chief executive Segun Lawson.

"Guitry is an advanced exploration project.

"Our initial drilling program was designed based on our new interpretation, suggesting a different orientation of a number of parallel mineralised lodes."

He added that the company was "particularly encouraged" that the drilling confirmed its new interpretation, adding that it also successfully intersected previously-untested deeper bedrock mineralisation which remained open at depth.

The company said the results came from a 400-metre by 300-metre area of drilling, with the highest grades largely found within fresh bedrock zones.

It said the gold-bearing lodes exhibited moderate to steep dips and remained open along strike and at depth.

Thor said it now planned further infill and step-out drilling at Krakouadiokro, as well as first-pass drilling of untested anomalies at both the Krakouadiokro and Gbaloukro prospects.

Lawson said the company also expected to begin drilling at its Marahui Project later in the quarter, following continued progress in advancing exploration targets.

A maiden resource estimate for Guitry remained targeted before year-end.

The Guitry Project was acquired from Endeavour Mining in 2024 and lay within the Tehini Greenstone Belt, which extends north into Burkina Faso and hosts several multi-million-ounce deposits.

At 1230 BST, shares in Thor Explorations were up 2.41% at 41.48p.
