Week ahead: US, European and Japanese inflation data in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus over the coming week will be on a barrage due out on the US economy, particularly readings on inflation and expectations for prices.
On Friday morning, the US Department of Commerce will release a reading for the core personal consumption expenditures price deflator for the month of July.
Later that same session, the University of Michigan will publish the preliminary results of its consumer confidence survey for the month of August.
Contained in the same will be gauges for inflation expectations one and five years' ahead.
Preliminary CPI data for August are also due out at the end of the week in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Core Japanese CPI figures are scheduled for release overnight on Friday, alongside data on unemployment and industrial production.
Worth noting, investors in the US will be heading into the Memorial Day holiday on 1 September, so trading volumes are likely to be lower than usual even for summer.
