Seeing Machines to scale up China production

(Sharecast News) - Seeing Machines said in an update on Thursday that its driver and occupant monitoring technology was set to scale up production in China, following the success of its collaboration with automotive supplier Magna and a leading German car manufacturer, marking its largest automotive programme to date.
The AIM-traded firm said the AI-powered system, integrated into Magna's rear-view mirror solution, uses a single camera to monitor driver attention and occupant behaviour in real time, helping to detect distraction and drowsiness and deliver timely alerts.

It said the technology had been in scaled production in China for a year, and was now expected to reach several million units annually.

"The mirror-integrated DMS/OMS technology has proven itself globally, and we are proud to work alongside forward-thinking partners like Magna," said chief executive Paul McGlone.

"This world-first solution has been a significant technical achievement and speaks to our shared commitment to safety innovation and to equipping automakers with the cost-effective, advanced solutions they need."

Seeing Machines said the programme represented its largest automotive award to date and formed part of its growing portfolio of 18 automotive programmes with 11 global manufacturers, representing a combined lifetime value of about $392m, most of which was expected to be realised by 2028.

The company said the latest development highlighted the growing adoption of its advanced computer-vision technology in next-generation vehicle safety systems.

At 1354 GMT, shares in Seeing Machines were up 4.83% at 3.61p.
