US pre-open: Futures edge higher after weak start to December trading

Date: Tuesday 02 Dec 2025

(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures were in the green prior to the open on Tuesday, attempting to recover from a soft start to December trading in the previous session.
As of 1230 GMT, Dow Jones futures were up 0.12%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.26% and 0.39% firmer, respectively.

The Dow closed 427.09 points lower on Monday as tech stocks and cryptocurrency volatility weighed on sentiment.

Tuesday's premarket gains come after major indices snapped five‑day winning streaks on Monday as risk‑off sentiment continued to weigh. Concerns over sticky inflation, stretched valuations and the returns on artificial intelligence investment have pressured the bull market in recent weeks.

Looking ahead, traders remain hopeful of policy support, with markets now pricing an 87.6% chance of a Federal Reserve rate cut at the conclusion of its 10 December meeting.

On Tuesday's macro slate, Federal Reserve vice chair Michelle Bowman will deliver a speech at 1500 GMT.

No major corporate earnings were slated for release on Tuesday.
