Eurozone construction output contracts in November

(Sharecast News) - Construction output across the eurozone fell by the most in six months in November, with all three major categories showing reduced activity, according to Eurostat figures on Tuesday.

Seasonally adjusted production in construction declined by 1.1% over the single-currency region in November, pulling back sharply after a 1.7% jump in October, which was the biggest monthly increase since February 2023.

November's fall was the steepest decrease recorded since May last year, and was a result of a 1.2% drop in building construction, a 1.6% fall in civil engineering output and a 0.4% slip in specialised construction activities.

The biggest monthly decreases were registered in Slovenia (-6.2%) and Portugal (-2.5%), while the largest increases were observed in Slovakia (+3.5%) and Bulgaria (+1.5%).

Compared with November 2024, eurozone construction output was 0.8% lower after a revised 1.9% year-on-year increase the month before, marking the steepest year-on-year decline in eight months.
