GreenRoc orders purification equipment for anode materials pilot plant

(Sharecast News) - GreenRoc Strategic Materials said on Thursday that it has ordered key purification equipment for its Active Anode Materials pilot plant and advanced bulk sample testing at its Amitsoq graphite project in Greenland, as it stepped up development activity and industry engagement.
The AIM-traded company said it had placed a purchase order with US-based Sepor for the main part of the purification system for its pilot plant, with delivery expected by the end of July.
It said the system was designed to scale up laboratory-based purification test work to a pilot capacity of around 1,000 kilograms of purified material per month.
GreenRoc said it had been working with graphite consultants ProGraphite to develop an alternative purification process using sodium hydroxide rather than hydrofluoric acid.
The company said test work had demonstrated the ability to produce active anode material containing less than 500 parts per million impurities, while significantly reducing operational costs compared with assumptions in its July 2024 pre-feasibility study.
It said the mills for spherical graphite production, the first processing step in active anode material manufacture, were due to be delivered to its Hørsholm site in Denmark in early March.
Separately, a 300 kilogram representative sample from an 18.3 tonne bulk sample collected underground at Amitsoq in late 2025 had been shipped to SGS Lakefield in Ontario for crushing, grinding and flotation tests.
The work would include mineralogical studies to assess graphite liberation, grain size distribution and recovery, and will inform the planned pre-feasibility study for the Amitsoq mine, which the company expects to initiate by the end of 2026.
Concentrate from the bulk sample would also be used as feedstock for the pilot plant.
GreenRoc also confirmed it had been accepted as a member of the Brussels-based European Advanced Carbon and Graphite Materials Association, with formal approval expected at its annual general meeting in April.
The board said the association represents EU carbon and graphite producers across sectors including steel, aluminium and battery technology.
Chief executive Stefan Bernstein said the period marked "a decisive leap forward for GreenRoc" as it built its pilot plant and progressed processing at Amitsoq, adding that the upcoming test work would de-risk the process and feed directly into the pre-feasibility study.
At 1104 GMT, shares in GreenRoc Strategic Minerals were up 7.1% at 4.18p.
