Guardian discovers new tungsten-rich zone at Pilot Mountain

(Sharecast News) - Guardian Metal Resources said on Thursday that it had discovered a new tungsten-rich mineralised zone at its Pilot Mountain project in Nevada during drilling carried out as part of work for the project's pre-feasibility study.
The AIM-traded strategic exploration company, which is focused on tungsten in the US, said the newly identified 'Tremor Zone' was discovered during condemnation drilling across an area that had been under review as a possible location for mine infrastructure.

The zone had also been identified by Guardian Metal's in-house technical team as one of Pilot Mountain's priority exploration targets following analysis of geological and geophysical datasets.

Guardian said the first reverse circulation drill hole at the target, PMR26-077, intersected five distinct zones of tungsten-rich skarn mineralisation.

The highlight intercept was 13.68 metres grading 0.31% tungsten trioxide from 102.11 metres downhole, alongside further intercepts including 3.04 metres at 0.24%, 4.56 metres at 0.16%, 1.52 metres at 0.24% and 4.56 metres at 0.24% tungsten trioxide.

The company said the Tremor Zone was a blind discovery, as it is obscured by alluvial cover and does not outcrop at surface.

Subsequent drill holes also intersected visually identified tungsten-bearing skarn over approximate widths ranging from 12 metres to 66 metres.

Guardian said the zone had so far been delineated over about 400 metres of strike length and remained open in multiple directions.

Drilling was continuing with two diamond drill core rigs targeting both infill and step-out drilling.

The firm said the Tremor Zone would not be included in the upcoming pre-feasibility study because drilling was still at an early stage, but it had retained flexibility in its infrastructure planning to allow for possible inclusion in future studies.

The zone is located within a part of Pilot Mountain that is entirely royalty free.

The Pilot Mountain pre-feasibility study was said to be nearing completion, and was being supported by a $6.2m US Department of War Defense Production Act Title III investment in Guardian Metal's wholly-owned subsidiary, Golden Metal Resources (USA).

Chief executive Oliver Friesen said the discovery was "a very exciting result" as Guardian advanced Pilot Mountain across engineering and exploration workstreams.

"The fact that the Tremor Zone was identified during routine condemnation drilling across just one of the project's multiple priority exploration target areas, highlights the untapped exploration potential that we believe exists at Pilot Mountain," he said.

"We have always maintained that this project remains largely underexplored, and the Tremor Zone is a compelling demonstration of that view."

Guardian said the discovery supported its view that Pilot Mountain contained further exploration potential, with several at-surface skarn zones, including Garnet, Good Hope and Gunmetal, still not fully tested, along with additional blind targets generated by its exploration team.

At 1011 BST, shares in Guardian Metal Resources were down 2.85% at 255.5p.
