US pre-open: Futures edge up despite ongoing Iran strikes

(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures pushed higher on Monday despite another round of US-Iran military exchanges.
As of 1225 BST, Dow Jones futures were up 0.18%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.32% and 0.70% firmer, respectively.

The Dow closed 406.55 points lower on Friday, extending losses recorded in the previous session.

However, sentiment improved before the open after Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei signalled that diplomatic channels between Washington and Tehran remained open, saying intermediaries were still exchanging messages and that talks could continue "based on national interests".

Crude prices were mixed prior to the opening bell, with West Texas Intermediate futures were down 0.44% at $82.13, while Brent futures ticked up 0.08% to $88.17 a barrel. US Treasury yields also ticked higher, with the benchmark ten‑year note rising just over one basis point to 4.558%.

In the corporate space, Domino's Pizza jumped more than 6% in pre-market action after posting a surprise rise in US comparable sales, up 0.1% in Q2 versus expectations for a 0.3% decline, while AMC Entertainment reported record quarterly revenues and adjusted EBITDA in its second‑quarter update, with the cinema chain revealing sales had risen 14.2% year‑on‑year to $1.597bn and adjusted underlying earnings had surged 69.6% to $321.4m - the highest levels in the company's 106‑year history.

No major data points were scheduled for release on Monday.
