(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures were in the green ahead of the open on Friday following a bruising session a day earlier.
As of 1200 BST, Dow Jones futures were up 0.50%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.20% and 0.09% higher, respectively.
The Dow closed 506.93 points lower on Thursday as disappointing corporate updates and surging oil prices hammered sentiment.
Oil prices were in focus again before the open on Friday, with Brent crude briefly breaking above $100 a barrel for the first time since late May before later easing 1% to $99.68 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate was also down 1.07% at $91.20 a barrel.
Donald Trump said he was close to deciding whether to launch what he described as a "massive" strike on Iran, after the conflict in the Middle East spilled further into the Red Sea. Speaking to Axios on Thursday, Trump said any potential action would exceed the scale of previous operations and argued that Iran had not "received enough pain yet".
"I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it," he said. US forces have continued to hit Iranian targets, with Central Command carrying out a 13th straight night of strikes on Thursday.
On the macro front, preliminary readings of S&P Global's July manufacturing, services and composite PMIs will be published at 1445 BST, while June new home sales figures will follow at 1500 BST.
In the corporate space, American Express and Verizon Communications will both report earnings prior to the open.
