Home Depot tops Q2 forecasts, maintains FY guidance

(Sharecast News) - DIY retailer Home Depot posted second‑quarter numbers on Tuesday that topped Wall Street expectations, while also reiterating its full‑year guidance.
Home Depot said adjusted earnings per share came in at $4.92, ahead of the $4.73 expected by analysts, with revenues rising to $47.86bn against a $47.27bn consensus. Net income rose to $4.77bn, or $4.79 per share, from $4.55bn a year earlier.

Comparable sales increased 1.7%, beating expectations for a 0.9% rise and marking the retailer's strongest comparable performance since the third quarter of 2022.

Home Depot also reaffirmed its FY26 outlook, noting that tariff refunds were expected to partially offset higher fuel, energy and product‑input costs. it continues to expect full‑year sales growth of 2.5% to 4.5% and operating margins of 12.4% to 12.6%.

The Georgia-based company said it remained pressured by lower housing turnover, higher mortgage rates and broader economic uncertainty, though it has been working to attract more professional customers, a segment it says was less sensitive to macro conditions.

As of 1330 BST, Home Depot shares were up 1.58% in pre-market action at $343.21 each.
